PAULA GOUVEIA WORK. COIMBRA
Work by the artist Paula Gouveia, exhibited at a client’s residence, in the city of Coimbra.
The client requested a large work, measuring 2.30×1.30 meters, planned in a concrete wall span, for her living room.
In developing this work, I had as an inspirational concept, the chromatic extensions of the canvas in the ambience of the existing gray concrete span, with the aim of not creating too much background noise and thus having a continuity to observe.
A triptych canvas, abstract, asymmetrical, with a frame of enormous lightness, exposing the work to its content without sectioning it off.
It portrays the view of a city, where the pollution in which “the world has accustomed us to breathe”, is evident, in a chromatic palette of dark gray tones, contrasting with the light of some existing elements that insist on prolonging their original strong colors. of our existence, as a cry of hope to live in a more colorful and sustainable world. The existing white tear of light determines the entrance to a better world, full of brightness and light, which is increasingly tiny and distant.
